See the man who lived without shampoo and shower gel for a year!

Read the story of 26 year-old Rob Greenfield - What led him to... renounce the use of shampoos and shower gels

Newsroom April 25 04:00

Rob Greenfield, a 26-year old American environmentalist and activist, did a bicycle tour across the U.S.A. a year ago to inspire Americans to live a more sustainable lifestyle.

The journey lasted 100 days and during this time he made a bet with himself not to bathe, to avoid wasting the precious water that is so needed for the survival of the planet.

He confesses that after spending 100 days without a hot bath, he decided to continue abstaining from shower gels and shampoos for another six months.

The semester finally turned into a year and the activist now says that he feels proud of himself for keeping away from the urban hygiene habits for so long and also relieved that his friends did not avoid him during his prolonged “abstinence from water”.

However, Rob reassures those who think that he stayed completely away from water for an entire year, saying that when he came across lakes, rivers, waterfalls or dripping taps in public places, he would not lose the opportunity for a short “bath”, without using conventional soaps of cource.

The American environmentalist has completely renounced perfumes, soaps and toothpaste and uses only ecological hygiene products that do not contain chemicals. He also declares that, in order to save energy, he has stopped using towels, which would require washing at some point and also hair dryers.

He prefers to dry his body naturally, by staying in the air and the sun and enjoying nature!
