ENFIA reductions worth 98.3 million euros

There is still confusion as to who is eligible for an ENFIA tax reduction and when the amendments for those who have been overcharged will be processed

Newsroom October 30 09:02

Over 500,000 taxpayers who are eligible for 50% or 20% reductions to the new joint property tax (ENFIA) due to being low wage-earners in 2013 or because they have property that is sitting vacant. The initial government plans were to give ameliorations worth a total of 150 million euros to at least 2 million homeowners of vulnerable groups (unemployed, low wage earners, the disabled, large families etc.), however the General Secretariat of Public Revenue only managed to gather 1.45 million taxpayers whose new ENFIA clearances were reduced by 98.3 million euros compared to the previous tax charges.

The basic reason for this is because the General Secretariat of Public Revenue of the Finance Ministry found that the total family earnings and other welfare funds received took a number of homeowners out of the “vulnerable groups” category.

The process for the submission of amended statements will be open to taxpayers over the coming days so that E9 but it will take a number of weeks to look through these and correct mistakes causing citizens to keep visiting taxisnet online or their Tax offices while overpaying taxes until December.
