National Geographic telecopes set up in Athens (video)

TV series "Mars" part of event

The “Mars Observation Week” will start in Athens with an event for a National Geographic documentary TV fantasy series of the conquest of the red planet called “Mars”. A series of happenings, which are open to the public (6pm till 10pm), commence on Monday, November 21 at Zappeion and are scheduled to run until November 27 at the Floisvos Park. The event, which could see telescopes set up in seven different locations across Athens in the suburbs of Kifisia, Chalandri, Glyfada, Alimos and Paleo Faliro, is taking place with the collaboration of the Athens Observatory and National Geographic in the framework of promoting the TV series, which takes place in 2033 and focuses on a mission to conquer and colonise Mars. The fantasy documentary series, which premiered recently, was shot in six episode,s and apart from dramatised scenes includes interviews with real scientists and businesspeople who speak about funding research and development for space exploration.
