The work stoppage took place during the scheduled construction tender of four new toll booths in the areas of Pamvotida, Mesti, Ieropigy and Evzonoi as well as their vertical axes.

According to the employees’ announcement: “The aim of the work stoppage is to express our opposition to the construction of the new toll stations and its planned concession, two moves that are under way following pressure from the creditors and TAIPED — with the government’s approval.”

It also added: “And the toll charges may be up to seven cents per kilometer versus the three cents charge that is in effect today.”
