Brussels: The Greek evaluation will be concluded only if IMF stays in the program

According to a Eurozone source

Newsroom January 25 05:13

In the Eurogroup tomorrow the issue of the Greek evaluation will be discussed yet again. According to sources the evaluation will not be concluded if the IMF is not going to be present in the program anymore. In the light of this, Thomsen’s participation in tomorrow’s Eurogroup will be of special importance.

A major problem appears thus far is the possibility of new measures beyond 2018.

According to the same source, the last visit of the institution’s representatives to Athens didn’t go very well, so a new round in Athens is very possible.
What is important though, is that if there is a decision to be taken this should take place by February as after that many countries of the Eurozone will be involved in various elections, something that is bound to effect the evaluation procedure.

In Brussels, however, they consider Minister’s Tsakalotos letter to as a positive step to the right direction, adding though, that this is only the beginning of the process.
