210,264 votes cast

Newsroom November 12 10:45

With 175,000 votes counted (83.2 percent) in the elections for the president of the centre-left political formation, Fofi Gennimata, leader of the socialist party of PASOK has secured a spot in the second round after receiving 42.50 of the votes and will face off for the leadership of the new centre-left formation with Nikos Anfroulakis. A total of 210,264 citizens voted. Following the results, close aides of Mrs. Gennimata expressed their satisfaction for the large participation in the electoral process as well as for the first spot of the leader of PASOK. “The 212,000 Greek women and men are co-founders of the large centre-left. They gave a mandate of unity and change. They vindicated our initiative. They sent a message of resistance against the descending trail and the government’s autocracy, reacting to conservatism and austerity”, the leader of PASOK said.
Gennimata, along with Nikos Androulakis who received 25.14 percent are through to the second round. Athens mayor George Kaminis (13.52 percent) is third followed by Stavros Theodorakis (9.81 percent), Giannis Maniatis (4.26 percent), Giannis Ragousis (2.39 percent), Konstantinos Gatsios (1.65 percent), Apostolos Pontos (0.53 percent) and Dimitris Tzionis (0.20 percent).
