Reigning football champions Germany were knocked out of the 2018 World Cup in Russia after losing to South Korea (2-0) in the final match of Group F. Sweden who routed Mexico (3-0), and the Mexicans despite their heavy loss advanced to the knock out stage of the competition. It is the first time Germany failed to advance from the Group stage of the World Cup competition.
