Greek cabinet meeting (video)

PM Tsipras outlines his plans ahead of Thessaloniki Fair in September

Newsroom August 31 11:49

Greek PM Alesis Tsipras vowed to raise minimum wages and control the deregulated market.

Mr Tsipras chaired a meeting of his new cabinet, after the mini-reshuffle that took place two days ago, which included some choices that were not seen in a favourable light by the left wing faction in SYRIZA. Mr Tsipras is outlining his plans ahead of the Thessaloniki International Fair (TIF) in September.

“Our political plan is to support the social forces which have been disproportionately affected by the heavy load and I think they are the vast majority. First by recovering work with decent wages and in decent conditions”, Mr Tsipras said.

He went on to say that his party managed to reduce unemployment to 19.5% and reverse the deregulation of the labour market. “We have a lot of work to do to support salary-based work in our country, which is a prerequisite for growth in our country”, he concluded.
