US Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo, was scheduled to meet with German Chancellor, Angela Merkel, as well as German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas for talks in Berlin on Tuesday.

However, the top US diplomat scrapped the meeting citing “pressing issues”.

The US State Department said in a statement that a scheduled meeting between US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and German Chancellor Angela Merkel has been cancelled.

Relations between the US and Germany, as well most EU members states, have been rocky since Trump took office in 2016.
