The new travel measures to Greece in light of the Omicron variant

Visitors will be allowed entry into Greece only with a negative molecular test (PCR) of 72 hours or a rapid test of 24 hours, regardless of their vaccination status

Newsroom December 17 01:18

The Official government Gazette was published outlining the measures for the coronavirus in view of holidays and the Omicron variant in the Joint Ministerial Decision (JMC).

According to the new measures, visitors will be allowed entry into Greece only with a negative molecular test (PCR) of 72 hours or a rapid test of 24 hours, regardless of their vaccination status.

This measure concerns all travellers and will take effect on the morning of Sunday, December 19, and will be in force until January 10.

Among other things, the decision provides for the temporary ban on entry into the country of all third-country nationals from any point of entry into the country and by any means of transport including air, sea, rail and road connections, for precautionary reasons of public health protection to prevent the further spread of the coronavirus in the Greek Territory.

All travellers to Greece, regardless of nationality and way of entering the country, will be obliged to fill in the electronic form PLF (Passenger Locator Form), at the electronic address https://travel.gov.gr, with their contact details in Greece before their arrival in the country. The proof of completion of the electronic PLF form, which is automatically sent by e-mail to the passenger by the system, is considered a necessary travel document. A valid PLF form, with a QR code, is considered necessary to enter any entrance gate of the country.
