“Greece is the new PKK, Mitsotakis is the ‘new Zelensky”, Turkish security analyst says

The expert said Greece was being used by the US against Turkey

Newsroom June 9 12:33

Turkish expert on terrorism and security expert Coskun Basbug provocatively claimed that the US was supporting Greece to put pressure on Turkey over its campaign in northern Syria.
Speaking to Turkish TV, he likened Greece to the “PKK”, a Kurdish militant group designated as terrorist by Turkey, while he characterized Greek PM Kyriakos Mitsotakis as the new “Zelenski”.

Speaking on TVNET, Basbug spoke about a “game” that the US is playing in Syria, using Greece as a pawn, in order to “appease” Ankara, which is preparing a new military invasion in Syria.

Mitsotakis is the new Zelenski, and Greece is the new PKK. We are starting a new operation in the northern part of Syria. Right in the heart of the business, Greece will say: ‘I increase the territorial waters to 12 n.m.’ Do not have any doubts,” Basbug said, drawing Turkey’s attention.

The analyst stressed that the US does not take kindly to the new operation that Turkey is preparing in the northern part of Syria and that is why it may “use” Greece in order to increase the pressure on Ankara.

The “PKK” (Kurdistan Workers’ Party) has been involved in an armed conflict with the Turkish state since 1984, with the initial goal of achieving an independent Kurdish state. Turkey has called it a “terrorist organisation” and is systematically fighting it, but to date has not been able to dismantle its structure and forces.
