The man, of Albanian origin, was taken to the hospital

Newsroom September 27 10:51

Shots were fired on Tuesday morning in the area of Zografou on Tuesday morning at the campus of the Polytechnic University.

According to reports, a little later an ambulance picked up a 30-year-old man of Albanian origin who has been transferred to the Red Cross hospital.

It all started with an operation by the Athens Security sub-directorate for drugs in the old student residences at Polytechnic University.

For an unknown reason, shots were fired and the 30-year-old was injured.

Police conducted an operation following information that the student dorms were being used for drug trafficking as well as a base for robberies and burglaries in the wider area.

While the operation was in progress, a female police officer felt unwell and decided to leave in her private car. As she was heading towards it, a man attacked her with a screwdriver of Albanian origin, about 30 years old.
