Turkish analyst: First we will destroy the Greek Air Force bases

"They should trust no one, no one will be able to save Greece from the hands of Turkey", analyst & professor of Strategic Studies Eray Gucluer said on CNN Turk

Newsroom November 10 11:45

Last June he had requested the “naval blockade of the Greek islands” by Turkish forces, as a reaction to their militarization by Greece. Now he defiantly claims that in the event of a war with Greece, Turkey – “in the first stage” as he says – will destroy the Greek Air Force bases.

The professor of the Altinbas University’s Strategic Research Department, Eray Gucluer, who, speaking on CNN Turk referred to the scenario of a possible Greek-Turkish conflict, whose primary goal will be to destroy Air Force bases in order to prevent Greek fighters from taking off.

“In the conflict, Turkey in a very short period of time, – let’s say this too – within a couple of days, with the fire and maneuvers of the operation, we will have ensured our superiority in the situation. In other words, the initiative will very soon pass into our hands” Gucluer argued, continuing: “And the answer to how this can be done is classic. In other words, seeing our military and defense capabilities, in the first stage, Greece’s airports will be rendered useless”.

The Turkish analyst then explains that the destruction of Greek airports will lead to “the surrender, neutralization, or downing” of Greek fighter aircraft. “So when those air bases are neutralized and the planes can’t take off, what are they going to do? They won’t be able to take off their planes, and those who fly what will happen? They will either surrender or be neutralized, shot down. In other words, in a very short period of time Greece will find itself in this paradoxical situation”.

Having a map of Greece on the screen, where the islands of the Aegean are presented with Turkish names, Gucluer concludes with a warning that: “no one will be able to save Greece from the hands of Turkey”, while hypocritically expressing the wish that there would be no conflict between the two countries…
