New heatwave to hit Greece from Thursday

Temperatures will reach 44 degrees Celsius

In an update of the Emergency Bulletin of Extreme Weather phenomena, the HNMS, Hellenic National Meteorological Service at noon on Monday forecasted a new heat wave that will “hit” Greece gradually from Thursday, and it will be strengthened on Friday and will last until Sunday, while in some places the thermometer will reach 44 degrees Celsius.

According to the Director of the Service, Thodoris Kolydas “Day by day HNMS will determine and analyze the evolution of the weather.”

The Extreme Weather Emergency Bulletin which refers to the warm heat wave causing heatwave conditions called CLEON in many areas of the country is updated according to the latest forecast data.

Today Monday 17-7-2023, tomorrow Tuesday 18-7-2023, and Wednesday 19-7-2023 the areas affected by very high temperatures will be limited in the western parts of the country, while in the east the temperatures will be lower, but the intensity of the heat will be lower, mainly because of winter winds (winds) reaching 7 Beaufort in the Aegean Sea.

Β. On Thursday 20-7-2023 the winds will weaken and the temperature will start to rise.

C. In particular, from Friday 21-7-2023 to Sunday 23-7-2023, the new heatwave will be felt throughout the country, while on Monday 24-7-2023, and from the north the very high temperatures are expected to recede.
