PM Kyriakos Mitsotakis arrived in Larissa – He flew over affected areas, spoke with flood victims

He then went to the coordination center

Newsroom September 8 11:24

The helicopter with which Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis earlier performed an autopsy over the affected areas landed at the Karditsa stadium shortly after 10:30′.

After the landing of the helicopter, the prime minister first spoke with volunteer rescuers and EKAV crews, while he then spoke with flood victims who had been rescued earlier as part of the major operation that has started since noon on Thursday.

The prime minister then went to the Operation Coordination Center that has been set up in the Region of Thessaly and where, since yesterday, Thursday, five ministers and a deputy minister are located for the wider “Dardanos” rescue operation.

For Mr. Mitsotakis, the highest priority at this time is the completion of the titanic and extremely difficult task of the rescues, alongside capturing the right up-to-date situational awareness.

The concern of the government staff, after all, has to do with what situation will emerge from the waters in the villages around Palamas, where the water reached or even exceeded two meters.

With no one at this time having a certain picture or assessment, Mr. Mitsotakis landed at Larissa, with the information stating that he will stay until tomorrow in the affected areas, although his exact schedule remains to be announced and it will depends on what is possible to do in such a critical situation.
