Olympic Stadium locked down due to a structural integrity problem at the Calatrava roof

A problem was identified after a study by TAIPED - The issue is now being discussed at Maximos Palace

Newsroom September 29 08:45

The decision to close the Olympic Stadium of Athens (OAKA), the largest stadium in Greece that hosted the 2004 Olympic Games as well as the cycling track, was taken by the government, as a study by TAIPED revealed a huge problem with the stability of their roofs.

The issue is currently being discussed at the Maximos Palace in order to organize the appropriate moves from now on.

The iconic roof at the OAKA, like the one at the cycling track, are both works of the famous Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava, built for the 2004 Olympic Games. OAKA has a total capacity of 69.618 spectators.
