Matteo Salvini proposes chemical castration after the gang rape of a 13-year-old girl by seven Egyptian illegal immigrants

Salvini emphasized the need for action rejecting any notions of tolerance in the face of such atrocities

Newsroom February 7 07:37

Italian Deputy Prime Minister Matteo Salvini has advocated for chemical castration for individuals convicted of violent sexual offenses, prompted by a disturbing incident where a group of Egyptian illegal immigrants allegedly gang-raped a 13-year-old schoolgirl in a park last week.

According to reports from the Italian newspaper Il Giornale, the girl and her boyfriend were assaulted by the migrant group in the Sicilian city of Catania. The attackers then forcibly took the girl into a public restroom, where they subjected her to a brutal assault in front of her helpless boyfriend, who was also assaulted.

Despite the ordeal, the couple managed to escape, but not before two of the migrants had raped the girl. Six of the migrants, including three minors, were apprehended that same evening, while the seventh was detained the following day after attempting to flee the town.

Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni expressed solidarity with the victim and her family, assuring that the state would provide support and ensure justice is served.

In a more direct response, Salvini emphasized the need for action, rejecting any notions of tolerance in the face of such atrocities. He advocated for chemical castration as a solution, and he expects the proposal put forth by the League to be swiftly considered and voted on.

Lega MEP Annalisa Tardino echoed Salvini’s sentiments, emphasizing the importance of chemical castration for rapists and pedophiles, as well as advocating for life imprisonment for similar offenses. Additionally, she called for immediate repatriation of foreign offenders and highlighted the necessity of prioritizing the safety of children across Italy.
