NATO Special Forces Exercise “Trojan Footprint 2024” takes place in Greece

It will last for over two weeks

Newsroom February 15 01:14

The NATO exercise “Trojan Footprint 2024” will last for over two weeks and will be hosted in various areas of mainland Greece, which will be transformed into an extensive Special Operations field.

This Special Forces/Special Operators exercise is part of NATO’s broader planning, with the selection of Greece as one of the hosting countries being another vote of confidence in the Greek Armed Forces and the Special Warfare Command.

Moreover, the Special Operations Forces units of the Special Warfare Command – such as the Special Paratroopers Section (ETA) and  the Z’ MAK – have already demonstrated their capabilities through NATO evaluation.

In addition to the Greek elite commandos, the exercise will involve top Special Forces units from the United States, United Kingdom, France, Italy, and Bulgaria.

Apart from the personnel of the Allied SOF elite, “Trojan Footprint 2024” will feature aerial assets from the participating countries, primarily from the United States, such as C-130 aircraft and UH-60M Black Hawk, AH-64 Apache, and CH-47 Chinook helicopters.

Raids, terminal guidance of weapons from fighter aircraft with the assistance of Joint Terminal Attack Controllers, reconnaissance and information-gathering missions, and neutralization of asymmetric threats will be executed, among others, under realistic day and night conditions.

Simultaneously, there will be amphibious scenarios conducted, such as beach reconnaissance and unconventional warfare raids using Greek and Allied naval assets.
