Green light for the “landing” of a Boeing 747 at Vouliagmenis Avenue

The ambitious plan to promote tourism in the region

Newsroom February 16 05:38

The Municipality of Elliniko-Argyroupolis has reportedly accepted the donation and the placement of a Boeing 747 plane of the former Olympic Air Force on Vouliagmeni Avenue, in front of the Sourmeni stadium, by the company ZELA AVIATION.

As it was mentioned during the discussion on the decision, the display of an airplane on Vouliagmeni Avenue will be a magnet for visitors, enhancing the tourist development of the area and international recognition.

It was also noted that the presence of an Olympic Airways plane would be a symbol of aviation history and provide an educational perspective for visitors.

At the same time, it will encourage young people’s interest in aviation and technology by acting as an inspiration for future generations.

The decision states that strict security standards should be established and that constant surveillance should be maintained to protect the public.

In addition, continuous maintenance of the aircraft must be ensured with a focus on its safety and integrity.

With regard to educational use, the need to promote the creation of a training programme to enhance young people’s education and interest in aeronautics is noted.

All costs for the transportation, installation and maintenance of the aircraft will be borne by ZELA AVIATION.

It should be noted that this March marks the 23rd anniversary of the last flight of an Olympic Airways plane to Elliniko airport.
