A rainbow appeared over Athens on Monday afternoon (13/5) after the rains in the capital, filling the sky with its colours.

The weather on Tuesday 14/5

In Macedonia, Thessaly, the northern parts of eastern Central Greece and Evia and quickly in Thrace partly cloudy with local rain and in the midday and afternoon hours possibly isolated thunderstorms mainly in the mountains.

In the evening the rains will be limited in the north. In the rest of the country, thin clouds are forecast, which will quickly become thicker in the Ionian and the mainland and later in the Aegean, with local rain and local rain showers in the midday and afternoon hours in the mainland mountains and in the mountains of Crete.

Visibility in the morning and evening hours mainly in the west will be locally limited. Winds will blow in the west from southerly directions 2 to 4 and occasionally locally up to 5 Beaufort, in the north from easterly directions 3 to 5, in the east from northerly directions with the same intensity and in the southeastern Aegean Sea occasionally up to 6 Beaufort.

The temperature will rise slightly in the west and will reach 25 to 26 and locally 27 degrees Celsius, in the north and the islands 22 to 23 degrees Celsius and in the rest of the mainland and Crete 23 to 26 degrees Celsius.

In Thrace, Macedonia and the northeastern Aegean, clouds with local rain or rain showers are forecast. In the rest of the country, thin clouds, occasionally more dense in places on the mainland in the midday – afternoon hours, when local rain will occur in the mountainous areas of Epirus, Thessaly and Central Greece.

Winds in the west and Macedonia will blow southeast at 3 to 5 Beaufort and in the Ionian Sea up to 6 Beaufort. In the remaining areas the winds will blow from the east northeast at 3 to 5 and locally in the northern Aegean at 6 Beaufort. The temperature will rise slightly in the west, central and south and will reach 25 to 28 degrees Celsius. In northern Greece the temperature will not change and will reach up to 23 degrees Celsius.

The weather on Thursday 16/5

In the west, central and north, clouds are forecast with local rain and during the midday hours in the north and central areas isolated thunderstorms. In the rest of the country there will be thin clouds, sometimes more dense. Meteorological conditions favour the transport of African dust in the west and south.

Winds in the west and Macedonia will be southeast at 4 to 6 Beaufort and in the Ionian Sea at 6 to 8 Beaufort. In the remaining areas the winds will blow north northeast at 3 to 5 Beaufort. The temperature will rise. In the west and south it will reach 30 degrees in some places, in the north 22 to 24 degrees and in the rest of the country 26 to 28 degrees Celsius.

In the afternoon the winds will weaken throughout the country. The temperature will rise and will reach 31 to 32 degrees Celsius in the west, central and south.

Generally clear weather with scattered clouds in the south. Meteorological conditions favour the transport of African dust. Winds will be variable 3 to 4 Beaufort and in the Aegean Sea north 4 to 5 Beaufort. Temperatures will rise slightly, mainly in the north.
