Stavroupoli: “I killed him because he raped my partner” – 51-year-old man in custody for cold-blooded murder

The co-accused was released with conditions

Temporarily detained, after his plea to the 6th regular investigator, one of the two defendants for the cold-blooded murder of the 41-year-old of Georgian origin, at noon on Holy Saturday, in Stavroupoli Thessaloniki.

The two men, aged 40 and 51, have been prosecuted, on a case-by-case basis, for the offences of manslaughter with intent, accessory to manslaughter with intent, illegal carrying of weapons, arson and aggravated damage.

The second accused, 41 years old, after his plea to the investigating magistrate, was released on bail and on conditions of not leaving the country and appearing at the police station in his area.

According to protothema.gr, the 51-year-old admitted that he was the one who shot and killed the victim, while before the investigator claimed that he was upset as the cocaine sold by the victim was of poor quality.

In addition, he allegedly said that the day before the victim had sexually assaulted and raped his partner and that at the time he shot the 41-year-old he was under the influence of drugs.

The police investigation revealed that the two men, following a telephone communication with the 41-year-old met in the Stavroupoli area and after an argument between them, the 50-year-old shot the 41-year-old, resulting in the fatal injury of the latter.

According to information, the second defendant claimed in his apology that he did not know the intentions of the 51-year-old who shot the victim.

Two days after the homicide, police officers of the Security Department of Thermi found the vehicle with which the perpetrators had moved, burnt to the ground on a side road of the Thessaloniki – Moudania highway, while the fire had caused a danger to adjacent properties. It is noted that the vehicle had no license plates.

The 40-year-old went voluntarily to the Security Subdivision of Katerini, where his involvement in the case was discerned. In addition, police officers of the Department of Crimes against Life and Personal Freedom, after evaluating information and searches, with the assistance of police officers of the Katerini Security Subdirectorate and the Department of Crime Prevention and Suppression of the Security Directorate of Thessaloniki located, in a rural area of Pieria and arrested the 50 year old.

According to information, the victim was known to the authorities as he had been employed in the past as he had been arrested, among others, as a member of a criminal organisation. One of the two arrested persons appears to be a temporary resident of Pieria and the second resides in Thessaloniki.
