Russiagate in the European Parliament: French aide central to Russian money scandal, key figure in investigation to illicit funds

Frenchman has worked for Germany's AfD Krach and now works for Dutch far-right de Graaf - MEPs paid to promote Russian positions

Newsroom May 29 05:46

Belgian police raided a private residence in Brussels and European Parliament offices in Strasbourg and Brussels today as part of the ‘Russiagate’ investigation, which involves MEPs allegedly being paid to promote Russian propaganda through the ‘Voice of Europe’ website.

The federal prosecutor’s statement confirmed the raids were part of a probe into Russian interference in the European Parliament.

The investigation centers on Guillaume P., a French far-right extremist, who worked for German MEP Maximilian Krah of AfD party and now works for Dutch MEP Marcel de Graaf of the Forum for Democracy. Guillaume P. previously worked for Marine Le Pen’s National Rally in France.

Maximilian Krah recently resigned from the AfD’s federal executive council after controversial comments. Another investigation into his office was ordered in early May when an associate was arrested on suspicion of spying for China.
