Siljanovska maintains her stance: While I honor the Prespa Agreement, I assert my right to utilize the name Macedonia

She claimed that the way she will use the name of the country is a matter of personal determination, a right guaranteed by acts superior to those in bilateral agreements

Newsroom May 31 09:08

North Macedonia’s new president, Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova, stated today that while she respects the Prespa Agreement, she has the personal right to use the term “Macedonia.” Responding to journalists in Ohrid, she claimed that her use of the country’s name is a matter of personal determination, a right guaranteed by higher acts than bilateral agreements. She plans to convince Greece of her position through dialogue, emphasizing the need for good neighborly relations, respect, and self-respect. “Of course, I have a plan,” Siljanovska said, “We will do it soon.”
