Sbokos was instrumental in building some of the most significant and groundbreaking hotels in Crete, many of which remain iconic to this day.

Sbokos, who had been battling a serious illness in recent years, died last night in the Intensive Care Unit of Heraklion University Hospital. He was widely regarded as an innovative employer and a key player in advancing Crete’s tourism sector. Additionally, he served as a municipal councilor in Heraklion under Manolis Karellis and as president of DEVAH during Kostas Klironomos’s mayoral term.

He is survived by his wife, Eleni Kaparounaki, and their two daughters, Agapi (married to Kostantinos Zompanakis) and Kostantza (married to Achilleas Konstantakopoulos), who continue his legacy in the tourism industry.

He acknowledged Sbokos’s commendable career in the competitive tourism sector and his unwavering commitment to environmental, social, and human values.
