An incident involving illegal immigrants was reported off Chios.
According to initial reports, a boat carrying 15 people – migrants along with the smuggler – attempted to approach the island to disembark.
A coastguard vessel arrived at the scene.
From the migrants’ speedboat, shots were fired against the Hellenic Coast Guard.
The coastguards fired back by shooting into the air, after which the boat with the illegal immigrants was forced to return to Turkish sea waters.
There is no official update yet from the Coast Guard.
