A tourist family’s holiday in Crete has turned into a tragedy, as a 50-year-old father was pulled dead from the sea.

The incident happened on Saturday afternoon, when the German man was with his wife and their children on a sailboat for a leisure ride in Dia, according to neakriti.gr.

During the trip, the 50-year-old attempted a dive and reportedly lost consciousness. The Coast Guard was immediately alerted, where it arrived at the spot and tried to bring him back, but the unfortunate man had already left his last breath.

His body was transported by a boat of the Coast Guard to the port of Heraklion, where an ambulance of the ambulance service was waiting to take him to the University General Hospital of Heraklion for a post-mortem examination.
