Weather hits Imathia, Larissa, Trikala, Pella and Kozani

The bad weather “hit” many areas of Greece today, Tuesday, August 20, at noon.

In many places, residents were faced with hail, thunderstorms, and flooding, while lightning also appeared in several areas.

Severe hail and rain in Imathia

Showers with heavy hail of short duration were recorded in Emathia at noon on Tuesday.

According to the special weather bulletin from EMY, showers and thunderstorms are expected in Central Macedonia, which will be accompanied by a high frequency of lightning and local hailstorms.

The hail in Veroia was small in size, while in the villages of Naoussa it reportedly fell like “stones”.

“Mountain” of hail in Trikala

Heavy hail was also seen in Trikala earlier today, while strong winds and a powerful storm were not absent, causing a lot of damage in the city.


Storm and hail of short duration in Larissa

As reported by larissanet.gr, around 17:00 it started raining with particular intensity in Larissa. The storm, which lasted less than half an hour, was accompanied by gusts of wind, thunder and for a few minutes hail, in the city. Some parts of the city were damaged and some streets were flooded.

Hail fell in places in other parts of Larissa Prefecture, such as in the municipality of Killer. There are reports of hail in Terpsithea and Eleftherae, the site said.

Pella: Hail in Archangelos and Almopia

Farmers in Almopia and Archangelos are facing damage from heavy hail.

Specifically, Dionysis Drenos, president of Archangelos, speaks of total destruction to the potatoes of Archangelos and cherry trees, the website pellanews.gr reports.
