Lesvos: The firefighter who hit his partner and sent her to hospital was arrested

He attacked her in front of their two-year-old child - He has been suspended from the Fire Department

Newsroom August 28 03:49

A firefighter in Polihnitos, Lesvos was arrested for allegedly assaulting his partner severely in front of their two-year-old child on Sunday night.

An arrest warrant had been issued for the man, who has been suspended by the Fire Department, and according to ERT, he will be brought before the prosecutor on Friday morning. His partner had reported him twice more.

“I’m going to kill you and the baby!”

For her part, the woman, speaking on Star’s main news programme, described being savagely beaten in a car while their baby boy was in the back seat. As she reported to Star, a “gratuitous fight resulted once again” in her savage beating.

“He started hitting me and I was screaming for help. I opened the door from the car and he was running with the car, with the door open, saying ‘Now I’m going to kill you and the baby!”

“He was squeezing my head, he had it under the steering wheel, he was hitting me on the steering wheel and saying ‘I’m going to kill you, I’m going to finish you’. His cousin ran up on his feet, pulled him out of the car. Another woman came and took the kid, I was bleeding from my face and running around barefoot. I went to a tavern, pressed the button on my cell phone, which is an emergency.”

A year ago, the victim had filed a complaint against the alleged perpetrator. “A year ago, we had filed a complaint against him for physical abuse and two years ago again a particular incident had been repeated, a very vicious beating while she was still pregnant with their child and this beating led to her premature delivery,” the woman’s lawyer said.
