A double penalty was imposed on the police cadet, who was arrested in September 2022 for participating in the gang that trafficked drugs and committed robberies using the Polytechnic University in Zografou as their base.

According to reports, the 22-year-old police cadet was sentenced to 18 months in prison — with a suspended sentence — and was also dismissed from the Hellenic Police Force (ELAS).

The 22-year-old had already been suspended from duty since late September when she was arrested in connection with this case.

As reported by protothema.gr, the young cadet, who served at the Zografou Police Department, was the informant for the criminal organization.

In fact, she was the one who had canceled police operations aimed at arresting the Albanians, who had turned the university dormitories into a den of criminals. A notable incident is mentioned on page 7 of one of the three case files compiled by the Athens Security Subdivision after the dismantling of the gangs.

Specifically, on January 28, 2022, the young cadet informed the criminal Vasil in a coded manner that a police operation was imminent.

“Given the concealed, and almost daily residence of “Ekos” or Julio on the university premises and in particular in various rooms of the university’s dormitories, the aforementioned was re-located by police officers of our service on 28 January 2022 at 19:00:30 entering alone in an apartment building on Papagou Street. The house in which his family resides.

At 21:30 police officers of the OPKE went to the Zografou police station in order to prepare the forces for an imminent operation for the arrest of the fugitive Ferhati Ermin. At that time at the Zografou police station was the police cadet. At 00:02 hours on 29 January 2022, the cadet constable communicates by telephone with Vassilis Vassiliou and from the conversation it appears that she informs him in coded terminology that Ferhati Ermin is being watched by police authorities. In the conversation with number 2356 in cd 41 “Vasil”, a part of the conversation is quoted:

Vassil: come

Georgia: let me tell you what you’re doing?

Vassil: here we are sitting here being driven crazy by …who is he? The jackass.

Georgia: remember that time we went karting and there was an aju?

Vassil: yes Georgia: and was his friend John coming too?

Vassil: o?

Georgia: John his friend

Vassil: which John his friend dude?

Georgia: his friend agu dude John Basil: ah

Georgia: is he gone or is he here?

Vassil: I don’t know, why?

Georgia: uh, to be careful with the car. Because you told me it didn’t have good tires.

Vassil: oh OK”.

Six minutes later, at 00:08 on January 29, after the call with the police cadet, the thug contacts his brother Esko and informs him of the police operation. At 00:15, Vassil, as the forwarding letter states,“went to the campus gate and after talking to Ferhati Ermin they entered inside the campus where their trail disappeared. Immediately and almost simultaneously, Ferhati Esmin, i.e. Esko, left the residence running after the place was first sighted by Aju and another unknown person before the arrival of the police forces“.
