Today’s meeting in Nicosia on the electricity interconnection was also unsuccessful – Consultations continue

A meeting held at the Presidential Palace in Nicosia lasted five hours to provide clarifications in relation to the Israel-Cyprus-Greece electricity interconnection project.

From the statements made by the Energy Ministers of Greece and Cyprus, it was concluded that the parties involved failed to reach an agreement. Both Mr. Skylakakis and his Cypriot counterpart G. Papanastasiou, stated that the discussion and work at political and technical level continues. As usual, today’s meeting was characterized as constructive.

In addition to the Cypriot President Nikos Christodoulides, who left the meeting before its conclusion, the meeting was attended by the Energy Ministers of Greece and Cyprus Th. Skylakakis and G. Papanastasiou, the Cypriot Finance Minister M.Kerynos, the CEO of ADMIE Manousos Manousakis and officials of the Greek company, as well as a representative of the French company Nexans, the company that contracted to build the cable.

Also in attendance were the Attorney General and the Assistant Attorney General of Cyprus, George Savvidis and Savvas Angelidis, the Deputy Minister to the President, Irini Piki, the Government Spokesman, Konstantinos Letibiotis, the Director of the Office of the Cypriot President, Charalambos Charalambous and the Director of the Press Office of the Cyprus Presidency, Victor Papadopoulos.
