Apostolos Lytras Temporarily Surrenders Lawyer’s License for Six Months

Disciplinary Action: He Receives a Six-Month Suspension for Domestic Violence

Newsroom October 1 06:30

The Athens Bar Association is due to hand over his lawyer’s identity card tomorrow (Wednesday) to Apostolos Lytras, as today (1/10) he was served with the decision of the primary disciplinary board of the Athens Bar Association, which imposed a disciplinary penalty of temporary suspension of 6 months, without the possibility of suspension, for the incident of domestic violence that occurred recently with his wife.

Apostolos Lytras was released from the Corinth prison following three months in custody for the beating of his wife, Sofia Polyzogopoulou.

Specifically, the Athens Plenary Council lifted the lawyer’s pre-trial detention and replaced his temporary detention with restrictive conditions.

He was released on the following restrictive conditions:

1. Prohibited from approaching the wife and her home within 100 yards.

2. Prohibition of communication directly or indirectly using technical means or through third persons. Only communication on matters concerning the minor child through lawyers is permitted.

3. In the event of communication with the child, delivery, and pickup by the spouse or a person authorized by the spouse shall take place outside the AT of the spouse’s residence, and during delivery and pickup the defendant may not address the person accompanying the child.

4. The defendant is to participate in a counseling therapy program at the National Solidarity Center.

It is noted that the original felony charge of aggravated intentional bodily injury was changed to a misdemeanor charge of domestic dangerous bodily injury with intent.
