A group of 14-year-olds tricked a 12-year-old classmate, telling him there were 5 euros inside a manhole and convincing him to enter and retrieve it. One of them, along with the teachers who were in the schoolyard, was arrested

Newsroom November 7 12:10

Another incident of school bullying occurred earlier this week at a middle school in Nea Ionia. A group of 14-year-olds deceived a 12-year-old classmate and trapped him inside a manhole. Fortunately, two teachers were in the schoolyard at the time, saw what happened, and immediately rescued the child.

According to the 12-year-old’s statement to the police, on Monday morning, a 14-year-old approached him in the schoolyard along with his friends. They told him that there were 5 euros inside a manhole and enticed him to go inside to get it. When the 12-year-old entered the manhole, they trapped him by closing the lid.

Following the rescue and subsequent complaint made at the police station by the 12-year-old and his father, the teachers were arrested for endangering a minor, while the school principal was sought by authorities but could not be located.

The 14-year-old who first approached the 12-year-old was also arrested near his home after being identified by the victim.

Later, both the 14-year-old and the teachers were released by order of the prosecutor.
