Shocking images in Argolida: Many dead birds were found by passers-by

So far it is not known what could have caused the mass death of the birds

Shocking images of hundreds of dead birds spotted on the coastal road of Nafplio – Nea Kios, at the height of the old factory “Pelargos” in Argolida, at noon on Thursday 14 November.

According to the website, argolikeseidhseis.gr, the birds were spotted by passers-by in the area. Some, in fact, were still alive and were gradually dying.

The competent services of the Regional Unit of Argolida and environmental organizations were informed about the incident and rushed immediately, while so far it is not known what could have caused the mass death of the birds.

According to information quoted by the website,this is a fishwife and some of the dead birds will be sent to the Ornithological Society to determine the cause of death.

Speaking to the camera of Argolic News, a member of the Association of Friends of the Wetland of Nafplio Nea Kios, the Tassos Eliades, who is also the responsible of the Veterinary Service of the P.E. Argolida, said:

“It’s a big disaster…we took a sample and the examination will show what caused (the birds’ death),” said Mr Eliades.
