Mitsotakis-Christodoulides’ statements on the Intergovernmental Conference between Greece and Cyprus

Statements by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and President of the Republic of Cyprus Nikos Christodoulides.

Statements by Mitsotakis

The Prime Minister expressed his pleasure at visiting Cyprus, stating:
“You know well that our meetings are frequent because the two countries align their common goals on a path of development and prosperity.”

He highlighted that from the earliest meetings following his election, the aim was to strengthen the institutional relationship between Greece and Cyprus through regular intergovernmental summits.
“These are meetings of substance, not just communication,” added Mr. Mitsotakis.

Statements by Christodoulides

The President of Cyprus emphasized the cooperation with Greece in the digital realm, announcing the launch of the Digital Citizen platform in Cyprus on December 5, based on Greek expertise.

“We are navigating a critical period in a constantly changing world. The war in Ukraine and the upcoming leadership changes in the United States require greater coordination between the two countries. We are two nations with excellent relationships with our neighbors, proving that we are pillars of stability. We have demonstrated through actions that we are strengthening our geopolitical footprint,” said Mr. Christodoulides.

Regarding the Cyprus issue, he stressed the close and daily interaction between Greece and Cyprus, stating:
“Ending the Turkish occupation is our No. 1 priority.”
