Panathinaikos triumphs over Barcelona: Kendrick Nunn shines with career-high performance

Kendrick Nunn scored a career-best 29 points, leading Panathinaikos to a dramatic 90-89 victory against Barcelona in the EuroLeague, marking a return to winning ways for the Greek team

Newsroom December 4 05:39

Game Overview: Panathinaikos – Barcelona
Kendrick Nunn delivered his best offensive performance in the EuroLeague, scoring a career-high 29 points and leading Panathinaikos to a thrilling 90-89 comeback win against Barcelona.

First Quarter:
Coach Ergin Ataman started with a defensive lineup (Kalaitzakis, Brown, Grant, Juancho, Lesort) to intensify pressure and limit easy scoring opportunities—a known weakness in recent games. The strategy paid off as Panathinaikos restricted Barcelona to just six points in the first five minutes and gained a 13-6 lead.

Lorenzo Brown and Juancho Hernangómez stood out early for Panathinaikos, but Barcelona’s Núñez sparked his team’s offense with eight points, leveling the score at 19-19. Kendrick Nunn closed the quarter with a stunning buzzer-beater from beyond half-court, putting Panathinaikos ahead, 25-19.

Second Quarter:
Panathinaikos extended their lead to 28-21, but Barcelona regained momentum through Núñez, who tormented the Greek defense with relentless drives. By halftime, the game was tied at 45-45, with Nunn, Brown, and Lesort keeping Panathinaikos in contention.

Third Quarter:
Barcelona took control in the third quarter, fueled by Veselý’s dominance and Abrines’ sharp shooting. They extended their lead to 66-55, leaving Panathinaikos trailing by 11 points. However, another buzzer-beater by Nunn kept Panathinaikos within striking distance at 63-69.
