Christmas 2024 festive opening hours: How shops will operate

The Sundays that shops will be open this Christmas

The festive opening hours for shops in Athens are now in force, a breath before Christmas, while they are expected to start in Thessaloniki from Saturday (14.12.2024).

According to the festive Christmas hours proposed by the Athens Trade Association, shops will be open daily from 9:00 am to 9:00 pm and on Saturdays from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm.

As for December 15, December 22 and December 29, stores will also be open. The optional shop opening hours for Sundays are from 11:00 to 18:00, and it is planned to be closed on Wednesday 25 and Thursday 26 December and Wednesday 1 January and Thursday 2 January.

As of Friday, January 03, 2025, the opening hours of the shops belonging to the local Commercial Associations of the Attica Basin will be resumed.

Christmas 2024 festive opening hours in Thessaloniki

The festive shop opening hours starting on Saturday (14.12.2024) are different from those of Athens, since on weekdays shops will open at 10 am and close at 9 pm, and on Saturdays from 10 am to 6 pm.

As announced by the Commercial Association of Thessaloniki and based on the current legislation, the voluntary operation of shops is allowed, with proposed opening hours of 11:00 to 18:00, for Sundays 15, 22 & 29 December 2024.
