Andreas Boudouvis: Former Rector of NTUA receives the “Award for Outstanding University Teaching”

The award will be presented by the President of the Republic, Katerina Sakellaropoulou in the hall of the old Parliament in Athens

The Outstanding University Teaching Award in memory of Vassilis Xanthopoulos and Stephanos Pneimatikos will be presented tomorrow, Wednesday, December 18, to Professor and former Rector, Andreas Bountouvis, of the Faculty of Chemical Engineering of the NTUA, by the President of the Republic, Katerina Sakellaropoulou in the hall of the old Parliament in Athens.

The Professor of NTUA Andreas Bountouvis, with many years of experience and dedication to his scientific and teaching career, is recognized for his outstanding contribution to the promotion of education and innovation in his field. Boudouvis is known for his passion for encouraging students to develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills, while supporting the development of their potential through participation in innovative research projects. In addition, he has actively contributed to the reform of the institution’s curricula, ensuring that they are aligned with current market and technology requirements.

Mr. Boudouvis was born in Pyrgos, Ilia in 1959. He is a Professor at the School of Chemical Engineering of the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA), of which he served as Dean from 2013-2016. From October 2019 to November 2023 he was the rector of NTUA.

He holds a degree in Chemical Engineering from NTUA (1982) and a PhD from the University of Minnesota, USA (1987). He teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in Transport Phenomena and Computational Methods. His research interests are in the areas of transport phenomena, interfacial phenomena, and computational process analysis. He has supervised the preparation of 130 undergraduate theses as well as supervised or co-supervised the preparation of 50 master’s theses and 24 doctoral dissertations.
