“Liz Cheney may be in deep trouble,” Donald Trump warns

"Many federal laws were violated by Liz Cheney"

Newsroom December 19 06:44

The Donald Trump said former Republican congresswoman Liz Cheney may be in “big trouble” after the release of a report by Trump lawmakers accusing her of witness bribery.

“Liz Cheney may be in a lot of trouble based on evidence gathered by the subcommittee, which says that ‘many federal laws were violated by Liz Cheney’ and that ‘these violations should be investigated by the FBI,'” Donald Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform about one of his toughest opponents.

On Monday, Trump filed a lawsuit against a newspaper and a polling firm that showed him losing in Iowa ahead of the presidential election, a move that heightened fears of an open war against the legacy media after the repeated incidents of fake news against him on their behalf.

Liz Cheney at Kamala Harris’ side

Liz Cheney has been the anti-Trump voice within the Republican camp for several years, but she lost her 2022 congressional seat that was won by a pro-Trump candidate. The daughter of former Vice President Dick Cheney recently campaigned alongside Kamala Harris.

When Republicans won a majority in the lower house of Congress in 2022, a handful of Trumpist lawmakers formed a subcommittee charged with investigating “the failures and politicization of the January 6 committee.”

The report, released Tuesday by that subcommittee, accuses the former Republican congresswoman of witness tampering because she was complicit with a former Trump administration official who had testified against Trump before the Jan. 6 committee.
