Papastergiou: We welcome the New Year with 2025 digital public services on gov.gr

8.597.642 citizens have used gov.gr, issuing at least one document or submitting an online declaration

Newsroom December 31 11:20

In its fifth year of operation, gov.gr, the Unified Digital Portal of Public Administration, the digital service centre that brings together all the solutions and everything that citizens and businesses dealing with the Public Sector and beyond need to know, enters tomorrow! It even happens that the number of services provided coincides with the year that starts in a few hours, during which the Ministry of Digital Governance will once again play a leading role in the digital transformation of the country and the multidimensional modernization of the state, as stated by the Minister of Digital Governance, Dimitris Papastergiou.

“We welcome 2025 with 2025 digital services of the Greek government hosted on gov.gr! It just so happened that the number coincided with the year, but what gov.gr has achieved is to establish among citizens the belief that the state can lead the way, to show that it respects them and that it is moving steadily in the direction of reforms, both large and small, but which significantly improve everyday life. This, after all, is what Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis is calling for in his second four-year term, at the end of which we aspire to have digitised all the services provided by the state. Of course the pace of digitisation is a concern for us, and you can see that we are digitising 1 to 1.5 services every day. But the most important thing is that citizens appreciate and recognise the huge change in the quality of life that digital services bring. In a recent survey, gov.gr was second in Greece out of all the companies and agencies included in it and is first among all government services in terms of satisfaction with the citizen experience. This fills us with joy and responsibility to continue with even higher quality digital services,” Papastergiou told APE-MPA.

Gov.gr was launched in March 2020 incorporating 501 digital services. Almost five years later, the exponential growth of digital transactions reflects the extent of the facilitation in the daily life of businesses and citizens, as it now hosts all the digital services of ministries, agencies, organizations, etc., already provided online.

Significantly, 8,597,642 different citizens have used gov.gr, issuing at least one document or submitting an online declaration, while 321,030,281 documents or declarations have been issued/submitted electronically.

In total, 27,353,249 affidavits, 6,757,670 authorizations, and more than 11.8 million family status certificates have also been issued.

Also, in 2024, 351 new services were created on gov.gr, almost one a day! The portal brings together 22 ministries, 99 institutions and agencies, 15 independent authorities and 13 regions.

It should be recalled that in a recent measurement of Customer Experience (CX) levels in Greece, conducted by the company Braincandy, gov.gr emerged as the best-performing public service, maintaining the lead over the rest of the public sector. Despite the strong competition and the dynamic entry of Aegean in the top 5 companies with the best CX, gov.gr, maintained the 2nd best performance among 74 companies in 2024, demonstrating now also consistency in maintaining high standards of service.
