Skylakakis: Subsidies on electricity in January – What he says about Russian gas

"In the coming days, any interventions will be announced", the Minister of Energy and Environment said.

Newsroom January 7 01:00

Subsidies on January electricity bills were announced by Energy and Environment Minister Theodoros Skylakakis, while early next month subsidies for business electricity bills will be implemented.

Skylakakis said via realfm 97.8 and in response to a question about household electricity tariffs: “We must say that the providers have shown great restraint. The government has a firm policy on electricity. When prices exceed a certain level then we intervene. In the next few days, any interventions will be announced.”

Skylakakis also announced subsidies on electricity bills to businesses. He said, “We will wait to see the February prices and then we will decide.” According to him, businesses will be subsidized once and the subsidies will be for the months of December and January and if necessary for February as well.
