The “smart” ports of Greece – How they are changing in the context of the fourth industrial revolution

Connect their operations through modern technologies such as 5G, the Internet of Things (IoT), Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Blockchain

Newsroom January 9 11:13

As central hubs in the global supply chain, ports have been significantly affected in recent years by economic and environmental changes. The need for resilience, sustainability, and accessibility in port infrastructure has become imperative, especially due to new barriers and increased funding requirements. At the same time, ports are developing through the digitalisation of their processes, incorporating new technologies and innovative infrastructure that affect their administrative and operational processes.

According to the research entitled “Overview of the Greek Port Industry” which resulted from the collaboration of the MSc “Organization, Operation, Development and Management of Ports” – Department of Business Administration – University of West Attica, the Hellenic Ports Association and the KDBM Institute of Port Training EXANTAS, technology is determining the future of ports, with digitalization being critical for upgrading infrastructure and increasing efficiency.
