The upgrading of logistics for members of the Armed Forces, the introduction of anew payroll and a system of transfers, but also the current geopolitical challenges were mentioned, among other things, by Minister of National Defence Nikos Dendias, during today’s inauguration ceremony of the distinguished visitors’ area at the Ministry of Defence.

In the new geopolitical environment, “instability is now the new constant. This instability requires the rapid modernization of the Armed Forces. The “Agenda 2030” is not a political choice of the Mitsotakis government. It is the late child of our national need,” Dendias stressed, adding that “we need to look beyond simple, national survival, to acquire a horizon of ambitions, broader, larger, beyond stereotypes.”

Among the attempted reform, which is called “Agenda 2030,” is included, according to the Defense Minister, “upgrading the education of our officers with modernization projects, infrastructure.” And “at the same time we are designing a modern career path” for Armed Forces personnel, Dendias disclosed, adding that this includes “a new salary scale fairer, proportional to positions and responsibilities.” But also “a different system of transfers with incentives that promote professional development and facilitate planning in families,” the Defence Minister concluded.
