Israel blocks the release of Palestinian prisoners for the chaotic conditions in Khan Younis

Israel protests the chaotic scenes under which two Israeli and five Thai hostages were handed over to the Red Cross in Gaza – "These images are unacceptable," says Netanyahu

Newsroom January 30 03:31

Israel has blocked the release of Palestinian prisoners that was scheduled to take place today following the return of the Israeli hostages.

By doing so, the Israeli government is protesting the chaotic scenes under which Arbel Yehud, Gadi Moses, and five Thai nationals were led to the Red Cross in Gaza to be returned home, Channel 12 reported.

One WOMAN. Not a soldier. Just a JEWISH woman.

Arbel Yehud, alone, 481 days and nights in Hamas captivity.

The same report states that the prisoners were already on buses ready to be released when the order was given for them to be returned to prison.

According to a statement from Netanyahu’s office, the Israeli Prime Minister “ordered the delay of the Palestinian prisoners’ release, which was supposed to happen today, until the safe departure of our hostages from Gaza is secured in the coming days.” The decision was made in coordination with Defense Minister Israel Katz.

Netanyahu Condemns “Unacceptable Scenes”

Referring to the videos circulating on social media, Benjamin Netanyahu stated that the chaotic release of the seven hostages in Khan Younis, where they were pushed and shoved by an enraged mob as they were handed over to the Red Cross, was “unacceptable.”

“I take very seriously the shocking scenes during the release of our hostages,” Netanyahu said in an official statement. “This is yet another testament to the unthinkable cruelty of the Hamas terrorist organization.”

The Israeli Prime Minister emphasized that he “demands that negotiators ensure that such horrific scenes do not happen again and that the safety of our hostages is guaranteed. Anyone who dares to harm our hostages will pay the price.”
