Jason Triantaphyllidis: His mother was devastated at his funeral – “His last words were ‘my mom I loved you very much'”

The journalist and film critic passed away at the age of 61 after struggling with severe health issues in recent months

The civil funeral of journalist and film critic Iason Triantafyllidis is currently taking place at the First Cemetery of Athens, instead of the Church of the Transfiguration of the Savior in Chalandri, as initially announced. Following the service, his cremation will take place in Ritsona. Iason Triantafyllidis passed away at the age of 61 after facing serious health problems in recent months.

His mother arrived at the First Cemetery of Athens supported by others, barely managing to utter a few words. She revealed that her son’s final words to her were: “Mom, I loved you very much, always remember that.”

The journalist began his career in 1985, writing for newspapers and magazines. At the same time, he worked in radio and television, and in recent years, he transitioned to online media. He wrote for Efimerida ton Syntakton and youfly.com, while also hosting the daily radio show Athens, Can You Hear Me? on Athens 9.84.

His contribution to the re-releases of archival material was significant, as he curated CDs featuring recordings of artists such as Aliki Vougiouklaki, Jenny Vanou, Sofia Vembo, Marinella, Tolis Voskopoulos, and Nikos Mamangakis. He also produced special tributes to the history of Greek cinema music.

Additionally, he authored more than 20 books on the history of Greek cinema, music, musicals, and artist biographies, with a particular focus on Greek film history.
