Cold-blooded murder in Gonnoi Larissa – The perpetrator committed suicide

Strong police forces are on the scene

Newsroom February 9 10:34

UPDATE:

The perpetrator of the double homicide inside his carpentry workshop in Gonnoi, Larissa, is dead. According to police sources, 60-year-old Dimitris Koltsidas, who was in possession of a Kalashnikov, fired several times into the air before turning the gun on himself and ending his life.

The police entered the carpentry workshop, in order to check for grenades and explosives, as he claimed.

His lawyer, Stelios Sourlas, who spoke to reporters after the tragic incident, said that the perpetrator was determined and, in their last communication, told him “I’m glad I met you, take care of my funeral, I have no money at all.” Shortly after, as he described, gunshots and a sound like a grenade explosion were heard.

He also said that the 60-year-old was facing a serious health problem and was in the final stages.

The 60-year-old remained with the two men he killed for more than thirty hours, inside his carpentry shop, in Gonnoi, Larissa. As was announced by his lawyer Stelios Sourlas, who rushed to the scene to convince him to surrender, the deadly fight took place yesterday morning.

Twenty-four hours later, at approximately 7:30 a.m. today, the perpetrator called the police, said that he had killed two people and stated that he wanted to surrender. However, when the police arrived at the carpentry shop, the perpetrator had been beaten up, had a gun and a grenade in his hands and was threatening to end his life, which he did shortly after 3 pm.

Strong police forces, a team of EKAM and a negotiator who tried to convince the 60-year-old man to surrender immediately arrived at the scene. As it has become known, the perpetrator had a criminal past, which includes domestic violence offenses, while he was a Golden Dawn politician in Larissa.

As he told his lawyer, his victims, who are Roma from Magnesia, had cheated him, as they bought machinery from him, worth 32,000 euros, had given him 2,000 euros and had signed bills of exchange for the remaining amount that turned out to be unrealized. Yesterday morning, the three met at the 60-year-old’s carpentry shop, an argument and fight ensued, and he killed them.

For his part, the president of the Gonnon community, Thomas Papadontas, said that the perpetrator had been heard to have had delinquent behavior issues in the past, but recently, he had been dealing with health problems and had focused on addressing them.
