Tempi: Soon the answers for the authenticity of the videos – Suffocating pressure from Maximou on PASOK

We insist on saying "everything in the light" and everything will be evaluated by the judiciary, reiterated government spokesman Pavlos Marinakis

Newsroom February 11 07:47

Yesterday’s “raid” by a team of the Criminal Investigation Department at the offices of the Interstar company in Metamorphosis was indicative of the appellate investigator handling the case’s desire to provide answers soon regarding the authenticity or not of the video that came to light and captured frames of the freight train’s path before the fatal collision at Tempi.

In particular the third video released yesterday by journalist Aris Portosalte and capturing the freight train moving at a slower speed at Platamonas captures the three platforms after the engines were empty.

The new videos, however, have raised many questions, particularly about the timing of their release, but also about the fact that they remained for two years on an employee’s compute. As a result, Bakaimis appointed yesterday forensic experts to evaluate the video footage and immediately initiated, in cooperation with the Hellenic Police, all actions to recover the servers and recorders from the companies contracted by the OSE.

Yesterday, however, both Interstar’s lawyer Vassilis Kapernaros and OSE’s CEO Panagiotis Terezakis expressed the opinion that the video footage submitted is genuine. As protothema.gr has written since Sunday morning, this is now the firm belief in the government, which will not rush to comment on the matter, at least until the authenticity of the material is certified.

“Did the government have an interest in delaying these videos from being brought to justice?” government spokesman Pavlos Marinakis asked last night in the wake of the police raid on Interstar. At the same time, Marinakis raised another political question, subject to confirmation of authenticity. “Think if the videos showed something to the contrary, what would happen? We would have had two or three motions of no confidence, two or three preliminary inquiries. Instead, we insist on saying ‘everything in the light’ and everything by the judiciary will be evaluated,” he said.

Pressure on Charilaou Trikoupis

In any case, the government will continue to press PASOK. After the weekend firing at Nikos Androulakis for changing his stance on the government “cover-up”, yesterday came a new round of coordinated attack with “nails” over the delayed establishment of the Pre-Investigation Commission. This time, the point was a speech by Nikos Pappas before Nikos Androulakis on October 23 in the Parliament, where the then chairman of the SYRIZA parliamentary group referred to the controversial file on Christos Triandopoulos, also raising questions to the Prime Minister, who was absent from his seat. It is obvious that the government believes that they have found a way to strike political blows at Charilaou Trikoupis, at a time when it is not the most favorable politically for the Maximus Mansion.
