Airbnb co-founder Joe Gebia is joining the Department of Government Efficiency along with Elon Musk, according to a report today in the New York Times, which cites a person familiar with the matter.

Gebia, a Tesla board member and close friend of Musk’s, plans to start work on that ministry soon, the paper added, but it did not say what role he will have on Musk’s team.

The White House did not immediately respond to a Reuters request for comment.

Gambia could not immediately be reached for comment.

In a post on X the day before President Donald Trump’s inauguration, Gebia had said he had voted Republican, marking his political switch from the Democratic Party.
