Karalis, who had previously set the record at 5.92 meters on February 8th in Lodz, Poland, added to his record-breaking performances this year. Earlier, on January 31st, he set a new personal milestone of 5.90 meters in Caen, France.

In Berlin, he began at 5.55 meters, successfully clearing 5.70m and 5.85m before reaching his record-setting 5.94m. Although he failed at 6.02m, the 5.94m jump is now his second-highest career achievement, with his personal best of 6.00 meters cleared in Silesia, Poland, on August 25, 2024.

Karalis finished second in Berlin, behind Swedish pole vaulting star Mondo Duplantis. Duplantis, competing in his first meet of 2025, cleared 6.10m but failed at 6.27m. The current world record holder, Duplantis has set the bar at 6.26 meters.
