Incident in the Parliament with Dimitris Mantzos and a PASOK associate

The official's first response to the members of the Parliamentary Guard was reassuring and that nothing serious happened

Newsroom February 21 06:15

A scene of chaos unfolded at the Greek Parliament on Friday at noon, when loud voices suggesting a heated altercation were heard emanating from the office of PASOK parliamentary representative, Dimitris Mantzou.

According to reports from inside the office, located on the ground floor of the parliamentary building, only Mr. Mantzou and one of his colleagues from the PASOK parliamentary group were present at the time of the incident.

The disturbance immediately prompted action from neighboring office employees and parliamentary security personnel, who rushed to the scene to investigate the source of the commotion.

Initial reports indicate that the official, in response to security’s inquiry, attempted to downplay the situation, assuring them that there was no cause for concern. She explained that the disturbance was due to her own fainting spell. However, despite her reassurance, both Mr. Mantzou and the official were escorted to the office of the House guard for further clarification.

The incident has raised questions regarding the safety protocols within the parliamentary building, as well as the nature of the events that transpired behind closed doors. Security teams are continuing to monitor the situation, but at this point, the cause of the disturbance remains unclear.
