White House on Trump-Zelensky meeting: He disrespected the US, come back when he’s ready for peace

The White House has also published the video of the Ukrainian president's departure on its X-post

Newsroom February 28 11:14

The meeting of Donald Trump with Volodymyr Zelensky at the White House as the mood turned ugly and no sooner had the US president dismissed the Ukrainian president, telling him to return when he was ready for peace.

After the meeting ended, he made a post on Truth Social stating, among other things, that “Volodymyr Zelensky disrespected the US; come back when he is ready for peace.”

Donald Trump’s post

“We had a very substantive meeting at the White House today. We learned a lot that we could never have understood without discussion under such pressure. It’s amazing what comes out of emotion, and I have found that President Zelensky is not ready for peace if America is involved because he feels that our involvement gives him a great advantage in the negotiations. I do not want an advantage, I want peace. He disrespected the United States of America in the Oval Office. He can come back when he is ready for peace.”

President Trump: "The problem is I've empowered you to be a tough guy. I don't think you'd be a tough guy without the U.S. You're people are very brave. But, you're either going to make a deal or we're out. And if we're out, you'll fight it out…but you don't have the cards…" pic.twitter.com/vEGSVeQsg7
